Short version: Simple CV is free, no account required. Your CV content is yours — we never touch it. We show ads to keep the service running. Don't use Simple CV to do anything illegal or harmful.
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using Simple CV at simplecv.io ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
These Terms apply to all visitors and users of the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using it, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have obtained any necessary parental or guardian consent required in your jurisdiction.
3. About the service
Simple CV is a free, browser-based CV builder. It allows you to create, edit, and download professional CVs as PDF files without creating an account or providing payment details.
The Service is provided free of charge and sustained by advertising revenue. By using the Service you acknowledge that advertisements will be displayed. The presence of an advertisement does not imply endorsement by Simple CV of the advertised product or service.
4. Your content
All CV content you create using Simple CV is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. This means:
- You retain full ownership of your CV content at all times
- We claim no intellectual property rights over your CV content
- We have no access to your CV content and hold no server-side copies
- Your content is never shared with any third party
Because we have no access to your data, we cannot recover it if you clear your browser storage. You are solely responsible for backing up your CV data using the export function in the app.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Infringe the intellectual property rights of any person
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or overload the Service
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security-related features
- Misrepresent your identity or create CVs for others without their knowledge and consent
- Transmit any malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
We reserve the right to block access to the Service for any user who violates these Terms.
6. Advertising
The Service displays third-party advertisements to fund its operation. We are not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements or for the products and services they promote.
Your CV content is never used to target advertisements. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how advertising data is handled.
7. Intellectual property
The Simple CV name, logo, design, source code, and all other materials that are not your CV content are owned by Simple CV or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property law. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from these materials without our prior written permission.
Open-source components used in the Service remain subject to their respective licences.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
In particular, we do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components
- CV templates will be accepted by any particular employer or applicant tracking system
- The Service will be available in every jurisdiction
- Any specific features will remain available indefinitely
Use of the Service is entirely at your own risk.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Simple CV and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of CV data, loss of employment opportunity, or loss of revenue — arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed £100 (one hundred pounds sterling), or the equivalent in your local currency.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other matter that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Service changes and availability
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service — or any part of it — at any time, with or without notice. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any such modification, suspension, or discontinuation.
We recommend regularly exporting your CV data so you are never dependent on the continued availability of the Service.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be signalled by a prominent notice on the landing page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory local consumer law in your jurisdiction provides otherwise.
